Short version: this website doesn't collect anything about you, the app doesn't either, and Apple handles your purchase.
What we collect on this website
Nothing.
We don't run analytics. We don't set cookies. We don't fingerprint visitors. We don't load third-party scripts. The site is static HTML + CSS served from Netlify's CDN. The only data Netlify sees is the IP address of incoming HTTP requests, which it uses for security and deletes within 24 hours per its standard log retention.
If we ever turn on analytics, we'll use Plausible, which doesn't use cookies and doesn't identify users. We'll update this policy if and when we make that change.
What the app collects
Nothing leaves your devices.
The Mac and iPad apps connect peer-to-peer over your local network or a USB-C cable. Your screen content is encrypted with TLS and travels directly from the Mac to the iPad. It never goes through our servers.
We have no servers.
The apps don't include analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any form of remote logging. The only data persisted on your devices is:
- A self-signed TLS certificate on the Mac (Keychain, never leaves the Mac) — used to encrypt the connection
- A device identifier on the iPad, so your Mac can recognise it on future connections
- Your trust decisions (Mac Keychain — which iPads you've allowed)
If you uninstall the apps, all of that goes with them.
What Apple collects
When you buy Lightspan on the App Store, Apple processes your purchase and stores the receipt. Apple's privacy policy applies to that transaction. We don't see your billing information, email address (unless you write to support), or App Store account.
Email and support
If you email us at support@lightspan.app, we read your message and reply. We use the email address only to reply to your message. We don't add you to a marketing list. We don't share your email with anyone.
Third parties
- Netlify — hosts this website (USA-based, GDPR-compliant per their Data Processing Agreement)
- Apple App Store — processes purchases (handles VAT, refunds, receipts)
- Porkbun — registers the lightspan.app domain
- That's it.
Your rights (GDPR)
Since we don't collect personal data on the website, there's nothing to access, correct, or delete from us. For App Store purchase data, contact Apple. For any email you've sent us, write to support@lightspan.app and we'll delete the thread.
